Mr Giuseppe GALATI, appointed by the Council of Ministers

Luca VOLONTÈ today warmly congratulated EPP/CD Group member Mr Giuseppe GALATI who had been appointed by the Council of Ministers to the post of Secretary of State for Education, Universities and Research.

Mr Galati, a Calabrian, was first elected in 1996 and, following his re-election in 2001, was appointed Secretary of State for Production. In October 2010 Mr Galati was elected Vice-President of the Parliamentary Committee of Enquiry on Counterfeiting and Piracy in the Italian Parliament.

Mr Galati has been a member of the EPP/CD Group at the Parliamentary Assembly since 2008 and his report on ‘Input for local development: an innovative approach for crisis-stricken regions’ prepared for the Committee on Economic Affairs and Development, is due for discussion and adoption by the Standing Committee at its next meeting in November in Edinburgh.
