Mr Luca VOLONTÈ, Winner 2011 of the Scandinavian Human Dignity Award

We were delighted to learn that the Scandinavian Human Rights Committee has today awarded the 2011 Scandinavian Human Dignity Award to Mr Luca VOLONTÈ, President of the EPP/CD Group at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

 The award is “presented to a person who has made a special contribution to human rights, all of which derive from the inherent dignity of the human person and are essential for his free and full development”.

The committee chose to award the 2011 prize to Mr Volontè “for his promotion and encouraging of the effective exercising of the human rights and freedoms”.

During his stay in Stockholm, Mr Volontè was one of the keynote speakers at a seminar organised at the Riksdag.
