Ireland’s largest political party, Fine Gael, will host the Congress to launch the 2014 European election campaign of the European People’s Party (EPP). The Congress will take place in Dublin, from the 6th to the 7th of March 2014, at the Dublin Convention Centre. Read more
The EPP/CD Group at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe expresses its concern over the recent “borderization” campaign in Georgia, which involves illegal installation of fences, barbed wire and other physical obstacles by Russian forces in areas adjacent to the occupied territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia – most recently in the village of Dvani. This seizure of additional land and expulsion from their homes of tens of individuals is in breach of the six point Cease Fire Agreement signed with the EU mediation in 2008. It is also clearly in breach of all norms of international law.
The President of the EPP-CD in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Pedro Agramunt, condemned the missile attack occurred on 26 December against Camp Liberty in Iraq leaving 3 dead and 71 injured. In this place 2,900 refugees from the main democratic Iranian opposition group PMOI-MEK suffered the fourth attack in 2013. Read more
The Group of the European People’s Party of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (EPP/CD) strongly condemns the massacre carried out at Camp Ashraf on 1 September 2013 by Iraqi forces. The execution of 52 unarmed and defenseless Iranian dissidents, many handcuffed, is evidence of a crime against humanity. We are gravely concerned about the fate of seven PMOI members who were abducted during the attack.
